CLAIMS
Theft of Inventory Claim
SKC was retained as an expert witness by an international aviation insurance company to analyze the value of inventory stolen from one of its insured’s overseas operations. We applied valuation and forensic accounting techniques to ascertain the proper value to be allocated to the stolen inventory.
Loss of Future Earnings
SKC was retained by a large multi-national insurance company to assist its legal counsel in the defense of a claim brought by the estate of the deceased. Specifically, we developed the economic loss theories relative to the loss of future earnings.

SKC was retained by an international insurance company to place a value on an inventory loss which was the result of a fire. We applied valuation and forensic accounting techniques to ascertain the amount of inventory which remained unsold at the time of the fire and to determine what value should be allocated to the destroyed portion.

SKC was retained by an international insurance company to investigate the circumstances in which a large six-figure embezzlement was committed by an agent of the insured securities broker/dealer. We analyzed the claim documentation submitted by the securities broker/dealer and made recommendations regarding settlement.

SKC was retained by the state's largest utility company to assist in the preparation of a proof of loss claim arising from an employee theft. We investigated and analyzed thousands of business transactions, prepared damage theories, calculated the amount of the loss and negotiated a claim settlement with the insurance company.
Business Interruption/Loss of Wages Claim
SKC was retained by a law firm and its client, a large medical profession insurance company, to assist in determining the actual economic loss suffered by the plaintiff. We analyzed the plaintiff’s alleged damages, which were prepared by an economist, and rendered an opinion as to the appropriateness of the theories used and the estimated total loss.
Business Interruption
SKC was retained by an insurance company to evaluate the proof of loss claim for loss of business income submitted by a retail outlet as a result of damages to the facility when a vehicle drove through a store window. We reviewed the methodology utilized in the proof of claim, projected net income during the damage period assuming the damages had not been sustained and rendered an opinion as to the loss of business income as a result of the accident.

SKC was retained by an insurance company to evaluate a claim for loss of business income submitted by a retail outlet as a result of wind and water damages. We analyzed the claim submitted by the insured and underlying documentation and methodologies employed by the insured’s accountant and ultimately prepared a calculation of our conclusions regarding damages based on our analysis.

SKC was retained by a national insurance company to evaluate a claim for loss of business income submitted by the proprietor of a landscaping business as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. We analyzed the calculation prepared by the insured’s accountant, reviewed the historical operating results prior to the accident, projected future operating results and rendered an opinion as to the amount of loss of business income as a result of the accident.

SKC was retained by legal counsel for an insurance company to assist in the defense of a claim for loss of income resulting from a traffic accident involving a commercial vehicle.

SKC was retained by a national insurance company to evaluate a claim for loss of future wages submitted by a chiropractor as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. We analyzed the damage calculation submitted by the insured, reviewed various financial information relating to the practice, researched statistics compiled by various sources relative to chiropractic practices and replacement earnings potential and rendered an opinion as to the appropriate amount of a claim for loss of future earnings.

to the claimant.
